Due to an abnormal overload of the general analysis division gateway gw.ddbj.nig.ac.jp, a restart process was performed at 19:34.

If you cannot log in, please use the newly established gw2.ddbj.nig.ac.jp gateway for the general analysis division. The usage is the same as the existing gateway.

Due to disk failure of the GPFS1 file system that stores DDBJ DRA and other files, emergency maintenance will be performed with restart of GPFS1.

Maintenance was completed around 19:00.

• No restart was performed and DDBJ services were not affected.
• The use of the NIG supercomputer was also unaffected.

Scope of Impact​

• DDBJ DRA and other data downloads will be unavailable during the maintenance period.
• Some DDBJ services will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

• The use of the NIG supercomputer will not be affected.

At about 21:00(24h) Thursday, October 7, 2021, the access failure occurred to the tape device that constitutes the hierarchical storage system of the large scale archive storage. The access was restored to the tape device at about 10:40 on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Scope of impact​

• Regarding the DDBJ DRA, data downloading may have stopped.
• The home directory of the supercomputer users are not affected.

Summary​

To change the correspondence between OSS and OST in the Lustre6 failure recovery work, 1/3 of the area in /lustre6 will be temporarily inaccessible.

It took longer than expected, but the work was completed around 12:00.

Affected area​

Access to a part of /lustre6 (about 1/3 of the area) will be disabled.

When accessing a part of the area in /lustre6 during the above time, I/O may become "waiting" in suspend state. 　Note that the running jobs will not be deleted and will be automatically restarted after the recovery.
